Virgin Bet: What you should know — and which alternatives are worth it

A couple of weeks back my brother-in-law Darren rang me while I was watching the Saturday football. He had just opened a Virgin Bet account for a cup match and thought he could log into Virgin Games with the same details, because "it's all Virgin, isn't it?" It is not, and that mix-up is exactly why so many people end up looking for virgin bet sister sites.

To put it simply, Virgin Bet has one real sister in Great Britain: LiveScore Bet. Both are run by companies in the LiveScore Group from the same office address in Gibraltar. Virgin Games shares the well-known red signature, but it is run by a completely different company, with its own accounts, offers and rules.

In this guide I look at who runs Virgin Bet today, where the LiveScore Group fits in, what each welcome offer really asks of you, and which alternatives may interest you if you want something different.

The licence details below were checked against the public UK Gambling Commission register on 3 November 2026. Offers change often, so please read the current terms on the site itself before you make a deposit.

Kayleigh "Kaz" Bramley has been comparing UK bingo, casino and betting brands since 2013, keeping a notes app of payout times and verification snags. Her practical checks — not star ratings alone — shape the comparison below.

Is Virgin Bet Still Open in 2026?

Virgin Bet Sister Sites 2026

Yes. Virgin Bet is open and licensed for players in Great Britain. On 3 November 2026 its licence holder, Virgin Bet Limited, had an active remote licence on the Gambling Commission register, and the trading name "virgin bet" was shown as active. There was no closure notice, merger or redirect.

Virgin Bet launched in the UK in May 2019. It started life as a sportsbook, and it still feels like one when you land on the home page, with football, horse racing, tennis and greyhounds at the top of the menu. A casino lobby, a live casino and a set of free-to-play games sit next to the betting side.

A lot has changed behind the scenes since the launch. The sportsbook first ran on the SBTech platform, and by the end of July 2024 it had moved across completely to the Kambi sportsbook platform, which also powers LiveScore Bet. In March 2026 Virgin Bet entered the South African market, its first market outside the UK. That does not affect players in Great Britain, but it is a sign that the brand is growing rather than winding down.

Unlike many British gambling sites, virginbet.com did not block me when I opened it from a connection abroad, so I could read the footer, the general terms and the help centre directly. Placing bets is a different matter: you still need to be in a country the site accepts, and using a VPN to get round that would break the terms.

This comparison is for adults aged 18+. Take time to think. If gambling feels hard to control then stop now and get free, confidential help from GamCare (National Gambling Helpline 0808 8020 133) or use the self-help advice on BeGambleAware.

Who Runs Virgin Bet, and What Are Its Sister Sites?

The company behind Virgin Bet is Virgin Bet Limited, which is registered in Gibraltar with company number 118415. On the public register it appears under account number 54310, with a head office at the World Trade Center, 6 Bayside Road, Gibraltar. It is also licensed in Gibraltar by the Government of Gibraltar and the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner.

Its remote licence, reference 054310-R-330640-008, has been active since 21 May 2019. It covers remote casino and general betting on both real and virtual events. That combination is what lets you use one account to bet on the Premier League and spin a slot without opening a second wallet.

The register records only one domain on this account, www.virginbet.com, and gives it the status "White Label". The footer explains the brand side of that: VIRGIN and the Virgin Signature logo are trade marks of Virgin Enterprises Limited and are used under licence. In plain terms, the Virgin name is borrowed, while Virgin Bet Limited holds the gambling licence and is responsible for your account, your money and your complaints.

Virgin Bet Limited is part of the LiveScore Group, and the footer carries a LiveScore Group copyright line. The group's other betting brand in Great Britain is LiveScore Bet. It is run by LiveScore Betting and Gaming (Gibraltar) Limited under account number 56859, with the domain www.livescorebet.com marked as active. Its licence has been active since 19 June 2020, covers the same casino and betting activities as Virgin Bet, and lists the same Gibraltar head office.

So LiveScore Bet is the one genuine sister site. The two brands hold separate licences, so you open a separate account on each, but they share an owner, a sportsbook platform and several group-wide rules that I cover further down.

Is Virgin Bet the same as Virgin Games?

No. Virgin Games is run by Gamesys Operations Limited under account number 38905, a different company with its own licence. It belongs to the bigger Gamesys family, together with brands such as Jackpotjoy and Double Bubble Bingo, which I describe in more detail in my guide to Virgin Games sister sites. You cannot use your Virgin Bet login on Virgin Games, and your balance and limits do not carry over in either direction.

Why Look for a Virgin Bet Alternative?

Plenty of customers are happy with Virgin Bet. The sportsbook is easy to find your way around, the casino has the big-name slots, and the free daily games are a nice extra. Still, there are good reasons to look at other options.

The first is the welcome offer. You can only claim each new-customer deal once, and the current casino welcome offer is a set of free spins on one particular slot. If you have already had it, or you are looking for a different type of deal, another brand is the obvious place to look.

The second is choice. The LiveScore Group only has two betting brands in Great Britain, so the family is small. If LiveScore Bet does not appeal, any further alternative will come from a different operator anyway.

My third point is a genuinely fresh start. Virgin Bet and LiveScore Bet share the same owner and the same sportsbook platform, so their markets, bonus rules and account checks feel very similar. If you want something completely different, look outside the group. My top pick right now is Sherluck. It is run by a separate company with its own terms, offers and account rules, so please read them carefully before signing up and make up your own mind about whether it suits you.

More Virgin Bet Alternatives Worth a Look

Outside the LiveScore Group, the closest matches are other well-known British brands that offer a sportsbook and a casino under one account. I checked each operator below on the public register on 3 November 2026.

Sky Bet and Paddy Power are two of the best-known betting names in Britain, and both have a casino next to the sportsbook. Betfred suits players who like a familiar high-street bookmaker name online, and BetMGM brings the famous MGM brand to a combined sports and casino site. If you want to dig into their own sister sites, I have separate guides to each of them.

None of these brands shares an account with Virgin Bet. Each one has its own welcome offer, its own terms and its own verification checks, so treat every sign-up as a completely new account and read the current offer page before you deposit.

Virgin Bet Welcome Offers Explained

Virgin Bet runs two separate welcome offers, one for the casino and one for the sportsbook. These are the terms shown on the site on 3 November 2026.

DetailCasino offerSports offer
What you get100 free spins£30 in free bets
What you must doDeposit at least £10 cash and wager it on any slotPlace a £10+ bet on sports, excluding virtuals
Time limit to qualifyWithin 7 days of sign-upBet must settle within 14 days
Value per item£0.10 per spin£20 for the sportsbook, £10 for Bet Builder
ExpirySpins expire after 7 daysAccept within 7 days, then valid for 7 days
RestrictionsKing Kong Cash Even Bigger Bananas 2 onlyMinimum odds 1.5, stake not returned

To get the casino spins, you have to sign up through the offer link itself and accept the spins when the pop-up appears. At 10p each, 100 spins add up to £10 of play, all on one single slot. If you like that game, this is an advantage; if you do not, it is a less exciting proposition.

The site's short terms do not say what happens to winnings from the free spins, so they do not tell you whether those winnings are paid as cash or come with wagering. Before you opt in, open the full terms for the offer and check that point. Since 19 January 2026, the Gambling Commission caps wagering on any casino bonus in Great Britain at 10 times, so a fair offer should be at or below that limit.

Two more points are worth knowing. Deposits made with prepaid cards, virtual or disposable cards, or debit cards the site cannot identify are not eligible for the welcome offer. And free bets on the sports side return only the winnings, not the free bet stake itself.

How I Compare These Sites

The term "sister site" is used loosely across the internet. Some comparison pages list Virgin Games as a Virgin Bet sister because of the name, and others include brands that closed or were sold years ago. To keep this guide accurate, I only count brands run by the same group of licence holders, because those are the companies that handle your money, your documents and your complaints.

Here is the routine I follow before I register with any new operator:

  1. Scroll to the footer of the exact site you want to join and note the company name and account number.
  2. Search the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) public register for that account number.
  3. Check that the domain you are on appears in the domain list and is not marked as inactive.
  4. Look at the trading names and domains to see which brands share the licence or the group.
  5. Read the general terms to find out what is shared between brands and what is not.

For Virgin Bet, the first four steps give a very clear picture: Virgin Bet Limited, account 54310, with virginbet.com as its only domain. Step five shows how the group fits together. The general terms, in force since 27 June 2025, refer to "Group Websites" run by the LiveScore Group in Great Britain, and some rules apply across all of them.

Beyond the licence itself, I compare the things you need day to day: how clear the welcome terms are, how quickly withdrawals are handled, which payment methods are accepted, and how easy it is to set limits.

Games, Payments and Withdrawals

The casino lobby is split into sections such as slots, jackpots, Megaways, table games and Slingo, with a separate live casino. On 3 November 2026 I could see games from Evolution, Play'n GO and Playtech, including live shows like Crazy Time.

Online slots in Great Britain have a stake limit per spin, based on age. If you are aged 18 to 24, your maximum stake per spin is £2. If you are 25 or over, it rises to £5.

On the sports side, the minimum stake is 10p per single or accumulator bet. There is also a free-to-play Daily Free Game, and Virgin Bet FIVES, a free football game in which you reveal up to five players and earn a cash reward for each goal they score in the listed matches.

According to the help centre, Virgin Bet accepts these payment methods:

  • Visa and Mastercard debit cards
  • Apple Pay
  • PayPal
  • Pay by Bank (Open Banking)
  • Revolut Pay

Withdrawals from Virgin Bet are free, with a minimum of £5 and a maximum of £20,000 per transaction for each method. Virgin Bet says it aims to process every withdrawal request within 24 hours. After that, Apple Pay, PayPal and Revolut Pay are listed as instant, while cards and Pay by Bank usually take one to four hours to arrive.

Expect identity and age checks before your first withdrawal. If Virgin Bet asks for documents such as a passport, driving licence or a recent bank statement, the terms say the account will not be activated until those checks are complete, and withdrawals can be held if you do not answer a request. Check your messages in the "More" section before you contact customer support.

There is one more point in the terms that is easy to overlook. A Virgin Bet account with no transactions for 395 days is treated as dormant, and 5% of the balance, or £5 if that is more, is then deducted every month. So if you stop using Virgin Bet, make sure you withdraw your balance first.

Safer Gambling Across the LiveScore Group Brands

Your gambling budget should cover all of your accounts together. If you can afford £30 a month and set a £30 deposit limit on three different sites, you have not given yourself £30 but £90 of room. First decide on one total amount, then split it up if you need to.

Virgin Bet offers deposit limits, a "take a break" option from 24 hours up to six weeks, and self-exclusion for six months, one year, two years or up to five years. Any request to raise a deposit limit takes at least 24 hours, and you have to confirm it again afterwards.

This is where the group link becomes important. The general terms say that during a self-exclusion, Virgin Bet will take reasonable steps to stop you opening or using an account on any other LiveScore Group website, and they recommend applying the exclusion to every account you hold with the group. Do not treat LiveScore Bet as a way around a break you have chosen on Virgin Bet. Ask support for written confirmation of which accounts are covered.

For a wider block, GAMSTOP lets you exclude yourself from every online gambling business licensed in Great Britain in one go. If gambling stops being fun, GamCare runs the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133, free, confidential and available 24/7. The BeGambleAware website also still offers self-help advice. Take Time to Think, play only with money you can afford to lose and never treat gambling as a way to make money.

My Verdict: Are the Virgin Bet Sister Sites Worth It?

Virgin Bet is open, licensed and growing, with a solid Kambi sportsbook and a casino lobby full of well-known names. It is part of a very small family, though. LiveScore Bet is the only true sister site, and Virgin Games, for all the shared branding, is run by a different company altogether.

If you have enjoyed Virgin Bet and want more of the same, LiveScore Bet is the natural first stop, as long as you remember that both brands share group rules on self-exclusion. If you want a real change, Sky Bet, Betfred, BetMGM and Paddy Power each offer sport and casino under one account, with their own terms. Whichever you choose, check the licence on the register, read the full offer terms, including any wagering on free spin winnings, and keep an eye on your total spend across every site.
